What is a Container?

A metal box, available in various sizes, useful for transporting goods, storage, and as a basis for construction projects. Available from London Shipping Containers.

Where do they come from?

Containers are mostly manufactured in China. They can produce between 5 and 8 containers every minute!

What can you do with a container?

The possibilities are endless! You can use them to ship abroad, store goods, convert them into buildings, even swimming pools are now being made from shipping containers. We at London Shipping Containers have previously provided containers for backdrops in adverts, props for Harry Potter World, and Top Gear even used one of our containers to fly over London. We have also done plenty of photo shoots with artists and models at the depot. The majority of our units are used for secure storage of expensive equipment, Christies the auctioneers used us to store fine art, yet the Hilton use our containers to store beds and bedding.

How can I get a container delivered?

We at London Shipping Containers are happy to arrange haulage of your container at point of sale/hire. The container arrives on a hiab, which offloads the unit from the vehicle into the position required. The haulier may request pictures of where the unit is to be placed to make sure it is possible. They need to make sure they have enough space, and that there are no over hanging trees, or cables. In preparation for your container arriving, we recommend that you have railway sleepers, or paving slabs to ensure that the ground is level – this will enable the doors to open freely.

What is the minimum hire period on shipping containers?

We at London Shipping Containers require a minimum of one months hire on our containers. We invoice for the delivery, return, and one months hire in advance, even if you only need it for a day. We are also happy to hire long term at a better rate.

How secure are shipping containers?

It is always recommended to have a lock box fitted on a container that is being used for storage. This acts as a shroud to protect the padlock, making it extremely difficult to get bolt croppers underneath it.  Cisa padlocks are particularly good for this purpose.
